Venue and Travel Information

The conference will take place at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien), in the city center of Vienna, Austria at the Freihaus building.

The lecture hall of the conference is FH 8 Nöbauer HS (DB02H12) (second floor, yellow tower).

Vienna International Airport (VIE) is well-connected to the city center. We recommend the following transfer options:

• ÖBB Trains (Austrian Federal Railways): The most cost-effective option. Take regular trains to "Wien Hauptbahnhof" (16 mins) or the S7 line to "Wien Mitte" (25 mins) for 5.20 € one-way. Note that if you specify your final destination in Vienna when purchasing the ticket, it remains valid for your connecting public transport ride within the city.
• City Airport Train (CAT): Non-stop to "Wien Mitte" (16 mins, 14.90 € one-way, 24.90 € return).
• Taxi: Standard taxis can be expensive. We recommend pre-booking a flat-rate transfer (e.g., Airport Driver for ~39.00 €).

The conference takes place at the Freihaus building of TU Wien (Karlsplatz).

Karlsplatz is a major transit hub, easily accessible via metro lines U1 and U4, as well as several tram and bus lines. The public transport system operated by Wiener Linien is highly reliable and the preferred way to get around the city.

While we do not provide lunch at the conference, the venue is centrally located with numerous excellent dining options nearby. Here is a curated list of recommendations, which are informal suggestions rather than an endorsement or partnership. Note that some restaurants are cash only.

A quick note on tipping in Austria: If you are satisfied with the service, it is customary to leave a tip of around 5–10% in restaurants and cafes.

• Pinsatore: Italian Pinsa.
• El Burro: Burrito place close to TU Wien.
• Gorilla Kitchen: Nice burritos.

Hearty & meat-focused

• Shu: Authentic Chinese cuisine.
• Asia Pavillon: Asian restaurant.
• Café-Restaurant Resselpark: Conveniently located right at Karlsplatz.
• Sha GuO: Clay pots and a very good business lunch with vegetarian options.
• Kebabhaus: Turkish restaurant very close to TU Wien with different lunch menus.

Further away & specialied dishes

• Pöschl: Traditional Viennese food (reservation strongly recommended).
• Gasthaus Zum Wohl: Fully gluten-free and lactose-free Austrian cuisine.
• My Secret Garden: Vegan, fully vegetarian, and gluten-free.
• Yak+Yeti: Nepalese cuisine with excellent vegetarian options.

Vienna offers countless opportunities to relax and explore. Given the warm July weather, we highly recommend taking advantage of the city's outdoor spaces alongside its famous museums:

• City Center Stroll: Walk around Stephansplatz and the Hofburg palace complex. Don't miss the Schatzkammer (Imperial Treasury) located within the Hofburg.
• Albertina: One of the most visited art museums in Vienna with one of the largest and most valuable graphic art collections in the world, alongside masterworks of modern art.
• Wien Museum: Recently renovated and located right at Karlsplatz, making it the perfect quick stop between sessions.
• Kunsthistorisches & Naturhistorisches Museum: The iconic twin museums of art and natural history on the Ringstraße.
• Technisches Museum: The Vienna Museum of Science and Technology.
• Schönbrunn: Explore the Palace and its magnificent gardens. Also home to Tiergarten Schönbrunn, the oldest operating zoo in the world.
• Wien Wanderwege: Vienna's well-marked city hiking trails, perfect for exploring the surrounding hills and vineyards.
• CopaBeach & Vienna City Beach Club: Excellent spots along the Danube to cool off, grab a drink, and enjoy the long summer evenings.

Participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodation. Because TU Wien is centrally located, there are numerous hotels and hostels nearby or just a short ride away on public transit.

Please note: July is peak tourist season in Vienna, so we strongly advise booking your stay as early as possible. The conference organizers do not partner with any specific hotels, nor do we use third-party housing services. If you are contacted by agencies offering to book rooms on your behalf, please treat them as spam.

Eduroam is available throughout the Freihaus building. We highly recommend configuring your connection through your home institution prior to your arrival. If you do not have Eduroam access, guest Wi-Fi details will be provided at the registration desk.
